Hand marbled, and dyed cottons
Machine pieced, applique and quilted
This lively free form spirit design came to me as I looked at my marbled cottons. This quilt is meant to inspire, to rise above the ordinary and allow our higher self to guide. This quilt was produced in a burst of creative energy. Once I had all the elements together I worked at a focused pace doing nothing else but quilt, sleep and eat. At the end of the process I was surprisingly not tired though I did pause for several days before taking on another creative work.
Below is a close up of spirit basically cut from only two marbled fabrics. I have added a few smaller embellishments of marbled cottons but the majority of the design is only two pieces. I tried to capture the spontaneity that random marbled fabric can inspire.
