I rarely use black fabric but enjoyed working with the carousel horses on this Hoffman fabric. Over the years I have done several versions of abstract collage piecing with strips but this is the first time I actually cut out some of the horses and appliqued them to create movement and integration with the marble fabrics. The abstract collage design is meant to give the feeling of dreaming as one drifts off. The quilt is densely quilted around each horse to make them puff out slightly. |
