This quilt is a series of florals I designed, painted on marble fabric and machine appliqued. The whimsical feeling combined with the warm cream marble background creates the sense of wonder so often found in nature. The light fabric is sculptured by the machine quilting and accents the soft design of the marble pattern. My favorite flower is the center blue and reminds me a bit of Dr. Seuss and his flowers.
I created a lot of light space around each flower to show off the shapes and also to do dense quilting. Combining feathers and floral motifs for the quilting patterns doesn't detract from the florals and yet adds an aliveness to the background. |
