Flowers Cubed combines two of my favorite themes: tumbling blocks pattern and florals. I experimented with combining traditional cotton patterns with my hand marbled cottons. The dark blue background is comprised of a number of different marble pieces. The marbling design is always very subtle on dark fabrics and takes some experimenting to get it to print properly. The marble green border pulls the piece together.
The rhythmic sense of the tumbling blocks pattern keeps drawing me back to do one more variation. So far I have done nearly a dozen from traditional settings to pictorials. |
