Old-Style Thinking (OST) is a concept Patricia Sun has been talking about for several decades. It is characterized by fundamentalism, which is a form of fear. Such concepts as "my way is the only way", "you are for me or against me", hating a religious group, suppressing human rights or not allowing a woman to make her own choices about her body are some examples. Our world is filled with Old-Style Thinking causing war, pollution, power over others and the destruction of earth. |
This righteous intensity is an attempt to simplify life and turn situations into black and white, either/or thinking to make us feel safe. It's much easier to blame others for problems, causing a disconnection in our thinking. Facing our internal fears and anger is a difficult process so instead the immature mind projects outwardly our dissatisfactions. We live in a world of fear projections.
Our immature logical mind (left brain) keeps us in win-lose thinking, promoting fear and power over other people. Our immature intuitive mind (right brain) generates images of the fears we believe. Together this thinking keeps people busy with distractions, always trying to survive and spending little or no time in self reflection.
A shift can occur when we grow up and realize that life is not as simple as black and white. The internet is a wonderful testing ground to observe how you express yourself. As many of us know it is rampant with abusive, controlling individuals. OST rebels against people who come from love or goodwill. These Old-Style thinkers assume love is "off topic". They will attack anyone who doesn't agree with their position. They also have lots of rules and regulations to tell others how they should live. They run negative energy not only through their own body but project it out for all to feel and hear. This thinking contaminates many web sites. The good news is that OST offers excellent lessons for us to self-correct and self-reflect and think outside of the box. There is a way to mature one's thinking and save our earth. |
